Writer: Kurt BusiekArtist: George Pérez
Plot: Krona examines the birth of the universe from the memories of Galactus whom he has slain. Krona tells Metron he thinks forcing the two realities together will unlock the secrets of the universe to him.
On both Earths various heroes and team including Spider-Man, the Teen Titans, Infinity Inc. and the New Warriors fight to save people as the planets face disaster.
Despite reality being harsh, the Avengers and JLA bond as they build their weapon against Krona. Captain America is nominated to be the command centre for both teams asnd he agrees, giving Superman his shield to wield on the frontlines. As they approach Krona’s stronghold they learn it is Galactus’ remains!
Krona senses them coming and unleashes a horde of hostile groups on the heroes including AIM and Intergang but the Avengers prevail through. As they plow through the enemies, Krona unleashes an army of supervillains on the team beyond anything they ever encountered.
The team face more problems when reality continues to shift and the lineups change constantly as the enemy army grows. When Martian Manhunter disappears and is replaced by another hero the telepathic link is broken. Flash and Hawkeye pursue into an apparent clearing where Krona kills them both! Captain America in the stronghold is confronted by Prometheus but defeats him alone. Thor is overwhelmed by enemies and as a last resort throws Mjolnir to Superman! As the team get to the centre they find Eternity and Kismet imprisoned and fear Krona’s power.
Flash and Hawkeye manage to get close enough to Krona to destroy his power source revealing Flash managed to save them both. The items of power vanish and Krona with them and the worlds begin to fade again as the chronal chaos ends and everything starts to return to normal.
Hal Jordan aka the Spectre manages to seperate the two worlds the two teams say their goodbyes as their realities are shut off from each other forever.
In the aftermath, Metron and the Grandmaster meet and talk of what they have learned and the possibility of doing it again someday. Grandmaster leaves leaving Metron with Krona’s essence!
