Writer: Tom DeFalco/John Marc DeMatteisArtist: Sal Buscema/Liam Roger Sharp
Plot 1: The Traveller disappears in front of the two Spider-Men and teleports to his minions and gives one a secret mission before unleashing all the inmates which is exactly what John Jameson had been fearing. Spider-Man and Ben Reilly awake next to each other and Spider-Man attacks him thinking he is working for the Traveller but they are interrupted by the non-super-powered inmates. They manage to get over their differences and fight together. Traveller and his minions take their leave after knocking out everyone surrounding the Asylum. Meanwhile, on her flight, Mary Jane is focusing on all her problems and has to run off to be sick. Back at the Asylum the Spider-Men face an old enemy of Ben Reilly’s called Wild Whip and quickly beat him before Carnage attacks them, claiming he’s already beaten or killed most of the other inmates. The two Spider-Men tackle him in sync and defeat him quickly. They try and stop Traveller from escaping but when Reilly enters Traveller’s car it is empty and explodes apparently killing him. Traveller escapes and Spider-Man meets with the head of Ravencroft where they find the planted letter saying that Traveller was an imposter. Spider-Man swings away unaware that his clone has also survived and is facing a choice, stay or return to the shadows.
Plot 2: Under the Jackal’s inluence Peter Parker and his clone battle whilst Ned Leeds life hangs in the balance. The Gwen Stacy clone manages to convince Jackal to save Leeds but at the cost of his own life. After the fight where an explosion apparently kills everyone inside the building, the clone tries to go home to MJ but finds Peter already there and realises the harsh truth, he is the clone.
